The mission of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is "To increase the understanding of philanthropy and improves its practice worldwide through critical inquiry, interdisciplinary research, teaching, training, and civic engagement". This mission is achieved by teaching students a conceptual based approach which encompasses the study of charitable giving, civil society, and voluntary action. Through implementing classes focused on the study of theory, history, management, and ethics students are equipped with a vast array of knowledge bound to allow them to flourish in the nonprofit sector.
Please feel compelled to peruse the attached document from the PHST-P450 Philanthropic Capstone course if you are interested on my personal views on philanthropic studies from a scholastic approach, and my experiences in the philanthropic studies program.
